The Humane Society is helping with the high cost of gasoline by reducing the adoption fees on cats and dogs. During the month of August, dog adoption fees are $90 and cat adoption fees are $75. The shelter wants, not only to help the animals to find for-ever-homes, but to give the adopters a break during the Dog Days of Summer. The Sharon Shriners Circus comes to Longview on Friday, August 29th. It’s a fun event for the entire family featuring aerialists, acrobats, clowns, and animals. It will be held at the Longview Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena 1123 Jaycee Drive, with performances at 4:30 and 7:00pm.
The Literacy Council of Tyler needs tutors for basic adult literacy, English as a second language, and G.E.D. preparation for adults and teens. Anyone who can read can teach an adult to read, and anyone who can speak English can tutor an E.S. L student.
